About Prince Hall Medical Foundation
In 2010, under the leadership of Most Worshipful Gregory R. Smith Sr., Grand Master of Prince Hall Masons of New York State, the Prince Hall Medical Foundation was established. From its inception, the Foundation has been committed to improving the quality of life and life expectancy of its members and the broader community through health education, promotion, and awareness.
The Foundation’s mission is to address and reduce African American health disparities through education, prevention activities, and access to care. Guided by the founding vision, the Foundation continues to galvanize its members, caregivers, community partners, and donor organizations to respond to medical needs across the state through advocacy, health fairs, screenings, and partnerships that connect people with essential health services.
Today, in the face of ongoing and emerging health challenges — including COVID-19 and its lasting effects, rising mental health needs, chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension, cancer disparities, and unequal access to quality care — the Foundation’s role is more vital than ever.
Our health education and awareness strategies include partnering with community-based organizations, academic institutions, health care systems, and health professionals. These collaborations have produced annual health fairs, seminars, cancer and blood pressure screenings, mental health awareness sessions, and blood donation drives.
The Prince Hall Medical Foundation also works with local institutions to identify and distribute health resources that address the most pressing needs of underserved communities.
As a not-for-profit organization, all funds raised — including those generated through health walks across all seven districts of the state — directly support the Foundation’s mission and the delivery of vital health services and programs.
